A review from Paul of Townsville.

We ordered a KUFU 280mm x 1400mm Premium Drawer and HD Cargo Slide in early June and it arrived in Townsville from Melbourne 6 days later, showing logistics have been well sorted. Kris and his team at Umhauer Products Australia answered emails and phone calls quickly and were very helpful.  Remote purchase was easy.

The drawer and slide were installed on a 17mm false plywood floor in the ute tub, under a soft tonneau.  Comprehensive instructions made installation straightforward, but it does have to be millimetre perfect.  A soft template would help with this.

Since installation we have done one outback trip during which the soft tonneau sucked more dust than an elephant. The drawer and slide were covered with dust, but no dust (nada, zip, nil) entered the drawer.  At trip’s end everything was washed with a pressure cleaned and again there was no water ingress into the drawer.  The slide worked flawlessly while bathed in dust and after pressure washing.  I would be happy to run the drawer and slide in an open ute tub.  In fact, it may be a better way to go.

Friends with an engineering bent have commented on the quality of construction. Apart from dust and water tightness, the drawer and slide move effortlessly.  Multiple stops prevent accidents while opening and closing on slopes.

Weight handling capacity of both components is excellent, and the drawer can carry an eye-watering amount on top (500kg from memory).  The drawer’s internal LED light is a nice touch.  Both components are easily removed from the ute, which adds hugely to their usefulness.

These are quality products.  Very highly recommended.
